Springfield, IL — Weather permitting, qualifiers will be held at Springfield, Ill., on Friday (April 21) at 1 p.m. Entries can be made online or by phone on Thursday (April 20) from 8-11 a.m. by calling LeAnn Shinn at 618.783.2589.There will be a $50 entry fee per horse.
Over 600 Stalls Allocated for Suburban Downs at Hawthorne
Stickney, IL – With the summer Suburban Downs at Hawthorne Race Course meet to open on Thursday, May 11, over 600 stalls have been allocated on the Hawthorne backstretch. Racing for the summer meet will be conducted four nights a week, racing Thursday through Sunday evening with a 7:10 PM post time. The Suburban Downs at Hawthorne Meet concludes on Sunday, September 24.
Attached to the release is the list of allocated stalls for the meet. Horses, and families of horsemen will be allowed to move onto the grounds of Hawthorne on Thursday, May 4. Two days of qualifiers will be offered prior to the open of the racing season. Qualifiers will take place on Friday, May 5, and Monday, May 8. Each day qualifiers will begin at 10:00 AM. During the racing season, qualifiers will take place prior to racing on Thursday evenings. Qualifiers will paddock in Barn 1 on the Hawthorne backstretch.
The first day of entries will take place on Monday, May 8. The draw schedule for the racing meet will be as follows:
Monday – Double draw races for Thursday and Friday
Tuesday – No Draw, racing office closed
Wednesday – Draw for Saturday races and Thursday qualifiers
Thursday – Draw for Sunday races
The entry box will be scheduled to close at 9:00 AM with the exception of opening week as the box will remain open until after qualifiers are completed.
For the first two qualifying dates, entries for qualifiers for Friday, May 5 will be taken on Thursday, May 4. Entries for qualifiers for Monday, May 8 will be taken on Sunday, May 7.
A reminder for horsemen, horses will only be allowed to bed on straw, no shavings will be allowed. Barn D will be the paddock once again for the meet. Paddock and Lasix times will be posted prior to the first draw day.
