With qualifiers set to go on Monday, January 3rd at 11 a.m. at Hawthorne, the Illinois Racing Board has set their schedule for licensing for opening week. They will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9a.m. to 3.p.m and then every live racing night in January from 2p to 8p. Note that they will be closed on Wednesday, January 5.

As most of us are aware, a tornado ripped through Kentucky last week and did extensive damage. One of our own, Donna Holt, had her home and barn suffer extensive damage. A few horses have also been badly injured. If anyone would like to make a contribution to Donna, you can do so through the Horsemen’s bookkeeper at Hawthorne. An account has been created specifically for her. You could also donate online through a “Go Fund Me” that has been set up for her.

The Illinois Racing Board will be open at Hawthorne for licensing on Tuesday, December 7, 14, 21 and 28th., then on Wednesday, the 29th and Thursday, the 30th. They will be open the following week, Tuesday, Jan. 4th, Wednesday, Jan. 5th and Thursday, Jan. 6th from 9a to 3p. Friday, January 7th is opening night and they will go back to their traditional nighttime hours.
